Will Mike Tomlin Return to Steelers? NFL Insiders Talk Possible Trade, Job Security
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin isn't concerned about his seat potentially heating up given the team's recent struggles, according to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones.
"He doesn't pay attention to it. It's been this way since he got [to Pittsburgh,]" a source told Jones. "... He remains focused on winning and doesn't let the noise affect him."
Per Jones, "league sources see two different options" regarding Tomlin and the Steelers possibly splitting up. They can trade him to an opposing team, or they could mutually part ways with him at the end of the season. It's worth noting that Tomlin has a no-trade clause in his contract and would need to waive it to complete any deal, though.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Tomlin is the longest-tenured active head coach in the NFL, as he's been patrolling the sidelines for the Steelers since 2007. While Pittsburgh hasn't finished with a losing record in any season during his tenure, the team also hasn't won a playoff game since 2016.
The Steelers opened their 2025 campaign with 4-1 record led by Aaron Rodgers, but have dropped five of their past seven games and sit at 6-6 on the season.
If Pittsburgh can't find a way to turn things around before the regular season comes to a close, Tomlin's days as head coach of the Steelers could be numbered.
