Broncos Vs. Bengals Week 1 Preview

Dedrick HendrixSep 12, 2009

After trading Jay Cutler in the 2009 Off-season, and having star receiver Brandon Marshall complaining it obviously wasn't the way rookie head coach Josh McDaniels wanted to start the 2009-10 season.

The Broncos look to put their disastrous off season behind them and just simply play some football. Unfortunately, Denver has a numerous amount of injuries: S Josh Barrett, who hasn't participated in Broncos' practice all week and is expected to be out Sunday.Jabar Gaffney Wr, has had limited participation in practice this week is listed questionable for Sunday, G Chris Kuper who has also had limited participation along with, QB Chris Simms, S Brian Dawkins, RB Knowshon Moreno, and QB Kyle Orton but all of which are listed as probable for Sunday.

The Bengals as well have some key injuries which include 1st Round Draft pick OT Andre Smith who is out with a foot injury. Carson Palmer who has been in full participation in practice this week is probable for Sunday as well as S Roy Williams.

Keys To Success:

Denver: The keys for Denver to win this game would be their defense. They now run a 3-4 defense under new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, so it will be interesting to see how that turns out with Elvis Dumervil, D.J. Williams, Mario Haggan, and Andre Davis. If Denver's new and improved 3-4 defense is a success then they should win this game.

Cincinnati: The keys for Cincinnati to win this game would be pass offense. If Carson Palmer is even near 100% in this game he should be able to pass with afficiency against the Broncos inexperienced secondary (with exception with Champ Bailey and Andre Goodman).

The Broncos and Bengals have split the last four meetings with Denver taking the most recent one, 24-23 at home Dec. 24, 2006.
