- Sophie Cunningham
- Shilo Sanders

- Justin Rose
One thing that stands out about the list of names is many of them are relatively new to the public eye compared to some of their counterparts. At this point, people don't have to google LeBron James to learn who he is, while those who don't follow college sports surely weren't as familiar with Sanders, Cooper Flagg, Cam Skattebo and Jaxson Dart.
Even Justin Rose isn't as well-known of a name outside of golf fans as Rory McIlroy, so there were surely plenty of people tuned into the Masters playoff between the two curious to learn more about who McIlroy was facing.
As for Sanders, there were plenty of times throughout 2025 that his name could have spiked in Google searches.
And none of them were more notable than the 2025 NFL draft.
He entered the draft as one of the headliners as the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders and a quarterback who was seen as a potential first-rounder. However, his drop to the fifth round became the biggest storyline of the entire event, and it played out over the course of three days.
That meant three days of football and non-football fans alike searching for more information on the developments.
Sanders going to the Cleveland Browns also meant additional searches as he battled in a crowded quarterback room that included Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and the injured Deshaun Watson.
Where the Colorado product would fit in was a story of interest, and he started the season as the third-stringer behind Flacco and Gabriel before the former was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals and the latter was injured.
Sanders has shown flashes of his potential even while struggling at times against NFL defenses during his first three appearances and two starts. The searches will likely continue to come as he further establishes himself at the NFL level.
For now, though, no athlete generated more Google searches in 2025.
