Shedeur Sanders, Jerry Jeudy Downplay Sideline Exchange in Browns' Loss to 49ers

Paul KasabianDec 3, 2025

CBS cameras caught Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy having a heated exchange on the sidelines during their 26-8 home loss to the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday.

Reporters asked Sanders and Jeudy about the moment on Wednesday, and the two teammates downplayed the interaction.

ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi explained what happened.

"At the beginning of the fourth quarter, CBS cameras showed Jeudy clapping his hands in an animated fashion and talking to Sanders while they looked over a play on a sideline tablet. Sanders stood up and responded to Jeudy before seemingly shaking his head in disagreement."

Last year, his first with the Browns, Jeudy caught 90 passes for 1,229 yards. This year has been a struggle, with the sixth-year pro snagging just 35 passes for 421 yards.

He hasn't yet found a connection with Sanders, the rookie who has started each of the team's last two games and also finished out the team's 23-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 16. Overall, Jeudy has caught five passes for 75 yards on 11 targets since Sanders took over during the Ravens matchup.

Of course, Sanders is barely into his tenure as starter, so it's possible the two keep working at it and develop a better rapport moving forward.

"The hardest thing in this game and right now is having trust, having trust in everybody," Sanders said, per Oyefusi. "Certain movements, certain things, it's so detailed, and that's how I play very comfortably. That's how I get in my comfort zone, that's how I get in my bag, that's how I'm able to do that.

"It's different, because this is a different year. It's not a traditional way. It's not a traditional situation, and that's OK because it's a challenge. And I know we're going to be able to overcome the challenge. But it just expedites everything. You just go out there and take risks. It is what it is."

Sanders, Jeudy and the Browns will next host the 1-11 Tennessee Titans on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. The Titans have allowed the fourth-most points per game (27.3 PPG), so it's possible the Cleveland pass game could get going here.
