Dream WrestleMania 42 Matches WWE Can Start Building Now
There is no bigger stage in wrestling than WWE's annual WrestleMania spectacle, and the 2026 version of the Premium Live Event will feature a plethora of marquee names and dream matches.
Starting right away, Triple H and WWE Creative should begin booking toward WrestleMania 42, not only to set the stage for the epic event, but to carry the company through the notoriously slow period between Survivor Series and Royal Rumble.
Here are the WrestleMania dream matches WWE Creative can start building now.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
The Rock vs. Roman Reigns
The biggest possible dream match that WWE could book in 2026 would be a Bloodline revitalization with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson returning to television to end Roman Reigns' dominance in the main event scene.
With The Rock already known for his sporadic but meaningful appearances, the company could set the stage in the coming weeks and build the storyline through Reigns while Johnson continues his work in Hollywood.
Eventually, Reigns would run through all of The Rock's minions, and the Attitude Era legend would have to return, setting the stage for some of the most anticipated moments on the Road to WrestleMania.
The storyline is already in place with the popularity of the Bloodline bubbling under the surface, and with Johnson and Reigns subtly teasing the matchup on numerous occasions, now is the time to start setting the stage for the biggest WrestleMania match possible right now.
Gunther vs. Brock Lesnar
There will always be a vocal contingent of the WWE Universe that does not like Brock Lesnar, but they won't be able to deny the sheer aura produced when The Beast steps into the ring against The Ring General, Gunther.
For the fans who love believability in wrestling, a battle between two legitimate heavyweight fighters is a dream match. These men are known as two of the toughest in the business, with intense work rates and stiff shots littering their matches.
Just as The Rock works a part-time schedule that allows the company to build the long-term story without one man there every week, WWE Creative can do the same with Lesnar's time limitations and Gunther's willingness to be a workhorse in the ring.
Triple H and the creative team need to keep Lesnar and Gunther physically apart, but teasing a full match further down the road should keep the WWE Universe warm through the winter.
With the heat of the feud increasing in the Spring, the war of words can finally turn physical, building genuine anticipation for the hoss battle to come. The match would be an all-out war, with the fans getting a true dream match.
Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair
There is no bigger star in WWE's women's division right now than Rhea Ripley. While there are several marquee possibilities for a dream matchup at WrestleMania, the best possible challenger would be Bianca Belair.
Over the last year, Belair has fallen off the radar as one of the top contenders, but it is time for the EST to re-enter the conversation by teaming with and eventually feuding with Ripley. The two women made magic with Iyo Sky before, but WWE has not booked the two Superstars in a singles match against each other at a major event.
At WrestleMania 42, the two generational talents—who WWE said are the future of women's wrestling—deserve the opportunity to steal the show and prove the company right. Add in the fact that Belair winning would catapult her right back to the top of the card, and this dream match deserves to be the main event on Night 1 of WrestleMania.
