Will Amon-Ra St. Brown Play for Lions vs. Cowboys? NFL Insider Updates Ankle Injury

Zach BacharDec 4, 2025

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is ready to go for Thursday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys.

St. Brown, who did not practice this week after suffering an ankle injury on Thanksgiving, is set to play against the Cowboys after going through a full warmup, per ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler.

The news comes after Schefter initially reported that a return next week was more "realistic."

Schefter noted St. Brown "is one of the NFL's toughest players, and if anyone can come back sooner, it's him."

St. Brown had been noncommittal throughout the week regarding his availability for the team's matchup with the Cowboys.

"I'm not sure right now, if I'm being honest. It's still up in the air," St. Brown said Tuesday, via Jeremy Reisman of Pride of Detroit (h/t Pro Football Talk's Myles Simmons). "I'mma try to be out there for the guys, for my teammates, but I couldn't answer that question right now."

He suffered the injury after getting rolled up from behind while blocking in the first quarter of Detroit's 31-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 13.

He recorded one target prior to exiting the contest.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell also discussed the wideout's outlook when speaking to reporters.

"He's better," Campbell said Tuesday. "That's the best way to say it. I don't see him practicing today. But he is better. I know this about him, if he can play, he'll play."

After St. Brown initially sustained the injury, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that he'll likely be considered "week-to-week" moving forward.

The three-time Pro Bowl receiver has remained one of the NFL's top pass-catchers, as his 884 yards are the fifth-most among all players. St. Brown has also averaged 11.8 yards per reception, scoring nine touchdowns.

His presence on the field will be crucial for a Lions squad battling for postseason positioning, as they currently own the No. 8 seed in the NFC playoff picture with a 7-5 record.

Kickoff between Detroit and Dallas on Thursday is at 8:15 p.m. ET.
