Abdul Carter Says 'S--t Happens' in Viral Video When Questioned on Giants Benching
New York Giants rookie Abdul Carter didn't want to provide specifics on why he wasn't on the field with the starting defense early in Monday's 33-15 loss to the New England Patriots.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Carter only said "s--t happens" and he "ain't going to get into detail" of why he was benched for the first two drives.

Carter added he does "take responsibility" for being benched and letting his team down.
ESPN's Laura Rutledge reported on the telecast that sitting Carter to start the game was a coach's decision. Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post added the 22-year-old missed "all/part of a team responsibility."
Per Connor Hughes of SNY, a similar situation happened to Carter earlier this season when he missed a walk-through and late to team meetings multiple times.
When asked about the situation after the game, Giants star Brian Burns said Carter made an "honest mistake" that he took accountability for and he will continue to help his teammate throughout his rookie season.
Carter played 45 of New York's 65 defensive snaps against the Patriots. His percentage of snaps played was 69.2, slightly below his season average (72.2) in 13 games.
New England scored each of the first three times it touched the ball, including a 94-yard punt return from Marcus Jones. The score was 17-0 for the Patriots before Carter got on the field.
This has been a disappointing season for Carter so far. The Giants selected him with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 draft, adding him to a pass-rush that already had Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Dexter Lawrence.
The Penn State alum has recorded just 1.5 sacks and one tackle for loss in 13 appearances.
New York (2-11) heads into its bye week having lost seven straight games. The Giants were the first team officially eliminated from playoff contention this season following their 34-27 overtime loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 12.
