RBC Canadian Open 2015: Leaderboard Scores and Highlights from Saturday

Joe PantornoJul 25, 2015

The third round of the RBC Canadian Open was completed on Saturday, July 25 from Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville, Ontario.

A three-way tie for first bunched the leaderboard after Friday's second round to ensure that there would be plenty of movement among the top players. That's exactly what happened in Round 3, as scores continue to stay at their low marks.

That's to be expected at this tournament, however. Eight of the last nine Canadian Open winners have seen their scores at 14 under or lower.

It's only fitting that a Canadian is leading the Canadian Open field after three rounds.

David Hearn leads the field at Glen Abbey, with a 15-under overall, after going four under on Saturday afternoon.

The PGA Tour caught the moment where he made his way up to first place:

After three birdies on the front nine and two more on the 15th and 16th holes, Hearn looked to be going into Sunday with a three-stroke lead, but a bogey on 17 brought his lead back down to two strokes as a pair of big names are hot on his heels.

Two-time Masters winner Bubba Watson used a hectic back nine to put him at four under on the afternoon and 13 under for the tournament.

After going even on the first nine holes, with a pair of birdies and bogeys, Watson recorded three birdies, one bogey and an eagle on 13. The PGA Tour takes a look at his eagle:

Watson is in a tie for second with Jason Day, who has gone from dealing with episodes of vertigo a little over a month ago to challenging for the lead in a second straight tournament.

But it wasn't looking good for him after 11 holes. Going even on the front nine, Day had disastrous 10th and 11th holes, with a bogey and double bogey, respectively. But a furious turnaround saw him record birdies on six of his final seven holes.

The PGA Tour takes a look at his birdie on the 17th hole:

A tie for fourth puts Michael Putnam and Brooks Koepka three strokes back of Hearn's lead at 12 under as they both shot four under on the day.

Putnam put together a very clean round Saturday, with four birdies on the afternoon, as he parred the other 14 holes. Koepka had to do a bit more work to get there, canceling out two bogeys on the day with six birdies.

Beneath them is a five-way tie for sixth place, including the likes of Jim Furyk and Johnson Wagner. Though he went even on the day, Wagner had one of Saturday's best shots, as the PGA Tour shows his work on No. 1:

Hearn might have a nation behind him, but he is going to have Watson chasing him on Sunday. Watson is going to carry the momentum of his great finish on Saturday into Sunday, so expect him to make a hard push for the title, with a final score around 17 under. It'll be up to Hearn if he can handle the pressure and keep up with one of the game's best if that's the case.
