Senior British Open 2015: Leaderboard Scores and Highlights from Saturday
After wreaking havoc on last week's British Open, the weather is continuing to play games in England for the Senior Open Championship. A lot of players were forced to finish their second round before starting the third round on Saturday, but Marco Dawson and Colin Montgomerieย don't have any complaints.ย
Dawson and Montgomerie share the lead at 10 under heading into Sunday, though they will be forced to play 27 holes of golf on Sunday after finishing nine in the third round before play was suspended.ย
According to the European Tour's official website, the plan for Sunday is to have an 8 a.m. local time restartโ3 a.m. eastern timeโto conclude the third round, with the fourth round beginning at 11:30 a.m.ย

All eyes will be focused on Montgomerie heading into Sunday. The 52-year-old was never able to win a major while on the PGA Tour, though he did have five runner-up finishes, including one at the 2005 British Open.ย
In many ways, this shot Montgomerie had on the first hole of the third round, provided by the European Tour's official Twitter, is a perfect summation of how close he's been to the mountaintop in his career without quite getting there:
Monty is a European Tour legend with 31 career wins, but this is one of the tournaments he has failed to capture. This feels like a moment that can help to redefine his career, even though it's been very good for so long.ย
There is competition at the top of the leaderboard. Dawson wasn't quite keeping up the pace from his 65-67 from the first two rounds, butย going twoย under throughย nineย holes before the darkness put a halt on things is nothing to scoff at.ย
Of course, Dawson and Montgomerie can't get too comfortable on their perch because there is a large group in the rear-view mirror making a fierce charge. Philip Walton was making a big climb on moving day.ย
The 53-year-old Walton was on his way to having the best third round of any player in the field at six under, pushing his overall score to eight-under par. His success largely came on the front nine, firing five birdies for a 30.ย
Joining Walton at eight under is Fred Couples, who was just playing steady golf with two birdies on the front nine and hitting par on the other nine holes he made it through before play was stopped.ย
There's a quartet of golfers at seven-under par who can't be dismissed. Bart Bryant. Miguel Angel Jimenez, Peter Fowler and Bernhard Langer have plenty of time to make up three shots if they want to leave their mark on the British Open.ย
Bryant was playing the best among the players in that group with three birdies on the front nine. He fired 34 on the back nine in each of the first two rounds. If that pace continues through the third round, he will end with a 67 that would bring his total score to 10 under.ย
Langer can't be dismissed because he is the defending champion at this event and also won it in 2010. He's the player lying in the weeds waiting to make a move, though his even-par total halfway through the third round leaves him with plenty of work to do.ย
The European Senior Tour couldn't have asked for a better scenario heading into Sunday. Even though weather problems have caused issues with the scheduling, there's a cluster of star players fighting for a title.ย
Dawson and Montgomerie will not have too much time to think, as so many holes will be squeezed into a single day. However, that could work to their advantage.
That doesn't make them prohibitive favorites to win, but it does help their chances.ย
