USWNT's Catarina Macario Continues Hot Streak, Thrills Fans in Win vs. Italy

Catarina Macario and the United States Women's National Team thrilled fans with back-to-back victories over Italy, grabbing a 2-0 win in international friendly action.

Macario opened the scoring in the 20th minute, continuing her hot stretch after a two-goal performance on Friday when the U.S. defeated Italy 3-0 in another shutout.

Macario has now tallied 16 goals through 29 appearances with the USWNT. She leads the United States in scoring this year with eight goals in 2025.

Jaedyn Shaw added a goal in the 41st minute to seal the United States' 2-0 win over Italy.

Fans reacted to the USWNT's victory and Macario's continued hot streak as she leads the attack.

Team USA controlled the run of play with 16 shot attempts, seven of them on target, and two corner kicks while maintaining 65.8 percent possession. Italy mustered just six total attempts with only one on goal.

The USWNT will have an extended break before its next international friendly, a Jan. 24 matchup with Paraguay.
