Real Madrid arrive at China's International Champions Cup having already picked up the trophy from Australia's edition.

It didn't start well, with a dull goalless draw with Roma, which they went on to lose on penalties. But Los Blancos picked things up against Manchester City and romped to a 4-1 victory.

Rafa Benitez's side looked significantly sharper than their English opponents, with two thirds of the famous "BBC," Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo, among the goalscorers.

The final member of the striker force, Gareth Bale, was playing in a supporting role in a more central position and did a decent job too, setting up the opener for Benzema.

Isco performed brilliantly against Manchester City, helping set up Denis Cheryshev's goal and will be hoping he can keep impressing the coach, before James Rodriguez returns.

The Colombian has extra time off after participating at the Copa America for his country in the summer.

Having seen Barcelona win the treble last term, tensions are high at Madrid. Benitez needs to get off to a good start.

While winning pre-season games means nothing if they then struggle when La Liga begins, it does boost morale.

Inter Milan, like Madrid, are coming back from a bad season. Theirs was considerably worse in fact, finishing eighth.

They also suffered defeat to archrivals AC Milan on Saturday, losing 1-0 to a wonderful Philippe Mexes volley.

His 62nd-minute strike was the goal that made the difference in the Chinese International Champions Cup opener.

AC Milan were left with 10 men after Antonio Nocerino was sent off for a lunge at Geoffrey Kondogbia, but Inter couldn't take advantage and find the equaliser.

It was their second pre-season friendly defeat, with German giants Bayern Munich seeing them off by the same 1-0 scoreline a few days earlier. Mario Gotze struck late on as Pep Guardiola's team eked out a victory. 

Roberto Mancini's Inter will be looking to build up their confidence by taking a pop at Rafa's Real on Monday.

Madrid played Inter Milan in this competition last year, with Gareth Bale scoring a brilliant goal in a 1-1 draw. Los Blancos lost that game on penalties.

Rafa Benitez is tinkering around with his attack, and Cristiano Ronaldo may be handed a central role in this friendly, rather than his usual wider position. Even if he's not, Ronaldo has started occupying that space in the middle of his own accord. New Inter Milan star Jeison Murillo will be looking to test himself against the Portuguese star.

There are few better ways to warm up for the season ahead than against one of the game's greats.
