WWE Superstar of the Week for July 25
It's been quite a week for the men and women of WWE both in and out of the ring. The Battleground pay-per-view had some great matches, but the return of The Undertaker overshadowed almost everything.
The Divas Revolution is in full swing, and it appears the company is finally taking women's wrestling seriously. For once, Divas matches aren't an excuse to run to the bathroom or grab a snack.
Before we get to the Superstar of the Week, let's take a look at some people who deserve to be recognized for their efforts.
Honorable Mention: The Divas Division
Battleground, Raw and SmackDown had matches featuring all nine members of the three Diva groups that sprang up two weeks ago, and there wasn't a bad performance to be had.
It's easy to give credit to Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks for this upswing in quality, but it would be foolish not to acknowledge the efforts of Naomi, Tamina, Paige, Alicia Fox and the Bellas.
To see WWE finally using the Divas the right way gives hope that the days of two-minute matches and pointless feuds are a thing of the past.
The crowd is responding well to the changes made to the division, and all the women who have been featured have stepped up and performed better than anyone could have hoped.
There's still a long way to go before the WWE Divas are given the same kind of attention they had during the days of Trish Stratus and Lita, but if we keep seeing performances like we saw over the past week, it will happen sooner than later.
Honorable Mention: Cesaro and Kevin Owens
Two men who have made the most out of recent opportunities are Kevin Owens and Cesaro. Not only have they had some of the best matches of their careers recently, but they appear to be entering into a feud that could help both men in a big way.
Many people were unhappy that Owens was booked to tap out to John Cena at Battleground, but it doesn't matter that he lost when all we remember is how amazing his performance was.
He is a natural heel who can bring the best out of anybody he faces. His promos are on par with the best heels in the company, and his matches always exceed expectations.
Then you have the Swiss Superman. Cesaro might not be the best talker in the company, but he is definitely one of the best wrestlers.
He continues to impress more people every week with his power, athleticism and pure grappling skills. He is a one-of-a-kind athlete who can make anyone he steps in the ring with look better than he really is.
Putting Cesaro and Owens together for a storyline will produce some incredible matches. Their styles are totally different, but they have shown that they can adapt to anyone's technique with ease.
If they end up with a bout at SummerSlam, it's hard to imagine that anyone will be able to top them.
Superstar of the Week for July 25: The Undertaker
It doesn't matter if you're five or 50. When The Undertaker's music hits and the lights drop in the arena, everyone turns into a kid again.
To be able to still produce the biggest pop of the night after all these years is a testament to how loved and respected he is among fans of all ages.
The Undertaker's appearance at Battleground was exciting, but it was the brawl he had with Brock Lesnar the following night on Raw that really got everyone's attention.
The two fought for several minutes while the entire roster attempted to separate them. Dozens of Superstars and officials couldn't keep them apart.
Even if Undertaker doesn't appear at all between now and SummerSlam, their bout will still be one of the most anticipated on the card.
For nearly three decades, the Deadman has been the measuring stick in WWE. His connection with the crowd is something that cannot be replicated no matter how hard anyone tries.
Lesnar is one of the few people who can match The Undertaker's intensity, and he is the perfect person to help carry the load of such a big storyline.
We have barely started the build toward SummerSlam, but it already has the potential to be one of the most exciting events of the year, and we have Lesnar and The Undertaker to thank for that.
