Nix delivered one of his best highlights of the season with a falling touchdown strike to Courtland Sutton, a throw that immediately drew "throw of the year" buzz. He also threw a costly interception in the fourth quarter, giving his outing mixed reviews despite the win.

On the defensive end, linebacker Nik Bonitto delivered the game-sealing stop, batting down Mariota's pass on Washington's two-point, game-winning conversion attempt.

The win pushed the Broncos further ahead in first place in the AFC West, ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers, improving to 10-2 on a nine-game winning streak and comfortably on their way to the postseason.

Fans reacted to Denver's impressive win behind Nix's offense and Bonitto's defensive stop.

Mariota finished with 284 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while completing 28-of-50 passes. With the loss, the Commanders extended its losing streak to seven straight and fell to 3-9 on the season, officially ending its playoff hopes.

Denver led 13-7 at halftime, powered by two field goals and a touchdown to take control early. The teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter as the Broncos entered the fourth up by seven.

Nix opened the fourth quarter with an interception that set up a Washington field goal, cutting Denver's lead to 20-17. Mariota stormed his way down the field three minutes remaining, converting on a fourth-and-six, to get the Commanders into field goal range to tie it up and send the game into overtime at 20 a piece.

Nix and the Broncos scored a touchdown on their opening drive, putting the Commanders on their heels early. Mariota answered with a scoring drive of his own, and Washington went for the two-point conversion and the win, but the attempt was blown up by Denver's defense.

The Broncos will face division rival Las Vegas, which has already been eliminated from playoff contention, on the road next Sunday.
