The former Indianapolis Colt, sent to New York as part of the trade for Sauce Gardner, had the best game of his season Sunday afternoon against the Atlanta Falcons.
Mitchell caught eight passes for 102 yards and the first touchdown of his season, good enough to be the sixth-best performer at his position in fantasy with 24.2 points.
It was a breakout performance from Mitchell, for which plenty has been expected but not realized. The second-year player from the University of Texas has proven to be an inconsistent route runner, which has been problematic, and has a history of making mistakes and other bone-headed plays.
Still, a fresh start in the Big Apple, chemistry with quarterback Tyrod Taylor, and big play potential make him an intriguing option for fantasy managers facing injuries at the wide receiver position, underwhelming production from a star, or the need for depth on the roster ahead of the playoffs.
Available in nearly all leagues, he is worth stashing and grabbing for managers in deeper leagues, while others should keep their eye on the former second-round pick and how he performers over the next week.
A favorable match-up against a Miami Dolphins defense giving up the 12th-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers over the last two weeks awaits in Week 14.
Projections: five catches, 90 yards, TD
Waiver Wire: Devaughn Vele, WR, New Orleans Saints

"Who?" you may be asking yourself.
Fans who paid attention to Sunday's game between the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins, though, were introduced to an intriguing young player in Vaughn, a seventh-round draft pick by the Broncos for whom the his current team traded a fourth-round pick in 2026 and a seventh-round pick in 2027.
With Brandin Cooks gone, Vele paid off that faith the Saints' coaching staff had in him Sunday by catching eight balls on eight targets for 93 yards and a touchdown.
He was the seventh-best wide receiver in PPR leagues in fantasy football through Sunday's slate and could be in line for more opportunities as New Orleans looks to fill the void across the field from star Chris Olave.
Vele has been targeted 15 times by rookie quarterback Tyler Shough over the last two weeks and there is no reason to believe that will not continue.
He faces a tough match-up against a solid Tampa Bay pass defense in Week 14 but should find some openings as the opposition keys in on Olave. Favorable scenarios against Carolina, the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Falcons wrap up his season and make him one of the more intriguing options on the wires.
Projection: six catches, 85 yards, TD
