Nike Air Jordan 11 Low 'Cobalt' Release Date, Pics and Retail Price

Tim DanielsJul 27, 2015

The Air Jordan 11 IE Low is set for a comeback this week with its original "Cobalt" design and color scheme. The remastered release combines the nostalgia factor of the 1996 shoe with a new, crisp look that should have wide-ranging appeal.

Nike continues to do a nice job of keeping the Jordan Brand fresh while still incorporating the past. It's a tricky line to walk because the prominence of the brand means every release gets scrutinized, but this one has the makings of a hit.

Here are the details from Brendan Dunne of Sole Collector:

The shoe is the best of both worlds. The base for the design is a fresh, clean white look, but then it incorporates a bold Jumpman logo and elephant print on the sides to make it stand out from the crowd. It also pops a little more because of the remastering.

Nice Kicks provided a terrific all-around look at the concept:

Everything flows together nicely, which doesn't always happen when trying to showcase something unique like the side prints. It's a complex style made to look simple.

KicksOnFire.com passed along a close-up side view:

The angle gives a solid vantage point of the print, which wraps around the back of the shoe. It also showcases the vertical stitching and the clear sole. All together, it gives the appearance that there are four different levels to the design.

Finally, Sneaker Bar Detroit highlighted one more angle:

All told, it's easy to see why Nike decided to revive the design. It's a classic look that should still go over well in today's market.

The shoe makes a statement even without any flashy color combinations or off-the-wall elements. That's become increasingly difficult to do in an era when companies are trying anything and everything to stand out from the pack.

The Air Jordan 11 IE Low illustrates with the Cobalt look that sometimes simpler is better.
