Mike Tomlin Reacts to Steelers Fans' 'Fire Tomlin' Chants During Bills Blowout Loss

Pittsburgh Steelers fans were not happy during Sunday's 26-7 loss against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, with a number chanting "fire Tomlin" in reference to longtime head coach Mike Tomlin.

"I share their frustration tonight," Tomlin told reporters after the game when asked about the chants. "We didn't do enough."

The Steelers have now lost five of their last seven games after a promising 4-1 start to the 2025 campaign. Last season, the team started 10-3 before losing the final four games of the regular season, costing them the AFC North title. They were one-and-done in the playoffs, losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round.

There is the feeling that this season is slipping away even sooner than last year's collapse:

Tomlin, 53, is in his 19th season as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, recording a 189-112-2 record in that time with 12 playoff appearances, two Super Bowl berths and one championship.

But the Steelers haven't won a playoff game under his watch since 2016 and haven't reached the Super Bowl since 2010. There is certainly the feeling in some corners of Pittsburgh that the Steelers have plateaued under Tomlin and a change might be necessary.

It hasn't helped that the team hasn't had a legitimate solution at quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger retired. But if the Steelers fail to make the playoffs this season, the scattered chants in Pittsburgh are going to grow into an undeniable roar.
