Rose Lavelle Impresses Fans in USWNT's Win vs. Italy After Star's NWSL Title Run

Rose Lavelle and the United States Women's National Team defeated Italy 3-0 in an international friendly on Friday in Orlando.

Fresh off an NWSL championship with Gotham FC and a Championship MVP nod after finishing the season with five goals and two assists, Lavelle set up the opening goal in the second minute, finding Olivia Moultrie.

Holding a 1-0 lead at halftime, Catarina Macario added two goals in the second half 12 minutes apart to seal the 3-0 victory.

Lavelle's early assist and the win on Friday impressed fans as the USWNT secured its third straight friendly victory.

Team USA controlled the stat sheet with 18 shot attempts and 11 on goal, adding seven corner kicks while holding possession for 68.3 percent of the match. Italy managed just two shots on goal with seven total attempts and two corner kicks as the USWNT kept them away from the net.

The USWNT and Italy will meet again next Monday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
