Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The four-time Pro Bowler had 2.5 sacks against Detroit, putting him at 12.5 for the season. His last one was impactful as it forced the Lions to settle for a field goal while down 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Parsons is now third in the league in sacks, trailing Garrett and the New York Giants' Brian Burns.
Garrett doesn't have an unassailable lead atop the leaderboard, but the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year is on a historic trajectory. With 18 sacks through 11 starts, he could smash the single-season record (22.5).
Parsons and Garrett crossed paths back in Week 3, with Cleveland getting the better of Green Bay. Ahead of the game, Parsons explained how he has used Garrett as a model for his own game.
"Competing and understanding what he's done for the game of football and how he's came in and dominated, but then also offering fellowship and mentorship, I think that's what separates the good and the great," he said, per ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi. "Like just being a big brother, a big friend outside of football. And you see his work ethic, and you see his process and you say, 'OK, this is why this guy is this good and this great.'"
Parsons earned some bragging rights when his Packers extension put him past Garrett as the highest-paid non-quarterback ever. Surpassing the sack record set by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt would give Garrett something new to hold over his on-field protege.
