Jaxson Dart Injured, Latest Rumors on Giants QB After MRI Results 'Worse' Than Feared

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart reportedly suffered a knee injury "worse than initially thought" and the team is bracing for the possibility he'll have to undergo season-ending surgery, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday.

Dart was initially believed to have suffered an MCL sprain after preliminary tests on Monday night.

Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters after the game that the team would "know more" on Tuesday but confirmed that he heard an MCL sprain was "in the neighborhood" of what the team believed to be the diagnosis.

Dart exited the 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the first quarter after taking a big hit in the pocket. He suffered a left knee injury and was taken to the locker room after staying down on the field for some time before limping off under his own power.

Dart was eventually ruled out, but not before campaigning to return.

Reporting from the sideline during the fourth quarter, ESPN's Laura Rutledge said Dart didn't relinquish his uniform to the Giants' training staff until shortly before halftime ended.

As a rookie in 2025, Dart provided excitement and hope for a struggling franchise. He took over the reins of the offense in Week 4 and completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions in 12 starts. He also rushed for 487 yards and nine touchdowns.

Dart is the present and future in New York as the Giants look to break a malaise that's seen the team post losing records 11 times in 13 seasons.

Jameis Winston, who went 11-of-27 for 111 yards and an interception against the Rams, will be under center until Dart is healthy.
