Packers' Matt LaFleur Teases Jayden Reed Potentially Returning from Injury vs. Lions

Zach BacharNov 25, 2025

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed hasn't played since Week 2, but that could change during the team's NFC North matchup with the Detroit Lions on Thursday.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur teased Reed's potential return when asked about his playing status.

"You never know... You'll find out Thursday," LaFleur said Tuesday, via ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

Reed has missed Green Bay's past nine games after undergoing surgery on a broken clavicle and a Jones fracture in his left foot on Sept. 17.

He's made progress in his recovery, as he was able to practice for the first time since the procedure during the week leading up to the Packers' 23-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12.

Reed was a limited participant in Green Bay's practices on Monday and Tuesday as well.

The 25-year-old is coming off an impressive 2024 campaign in which he reeled in 55 catches for 857 yards and six touchdowns. He also continued to establish himself as a deep threat, averaging 15.6 yards per reception.

Reed's presence would be a boost to a receiving corps that has been hit hard by injuries this year. Christian Watson has only appeared in five games after recovering from a torn ACL, while tight end Tucker Kraft will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to a torn ACL of his own.

Thursday's matchup will contain massive playoff implications, as both Green Bay and Detroit sit just behind the Chicago Bears for the top spot in the division with their respective records of 7-3-1 and 7-4.

Kickoff between the Packers and Lions on Thursday is at 1 p.m. ET.
