Moehrig appealed the suspension but it was denied, NFL's Michael Signora announced Wednesday.
Late in the fourth quarter of the matchup with San Francisco, Moehrig appeared to strike 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings in the groin after a play. The incident led to a scuffle between both players following the game.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero noted that Moehrig's suspension will cost him a game check worth $65,000 if it is upheld.
The 26-year-old explained that Jennings was pushing him in the back and "talking crazy" throughout the game, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner.
"He was just doing some extra stuff after the play," Moehrig said. "I'll take that one. It wasn't just frustration. It was isolated.''
Jennings confirmed that he wasn't anticipating the strike, but suspected that Moehrig's actions stemmed from his physical playing style.
"That was just out of nowhere," Jennings said, via Wagoner. "I think it's probably just like I was saying, just the history of me playing ball. I play hard. I'm physically stronger than a lot of DBs out there and a lot of things happen in between the whistles. With me at least."
Moehrig finished with eight tackles and one tackle for loss in Monday's contest. As for Jennings, he hauled in five of his seven targets for 41 yards and a touchdown.
Moehrig is in the midst of his first season with the Panthers after signing a three-year, $51 million contract to join the team as a free agent in March. He's recorded 81 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, one sack and one interception in 12 games.
The former second-round pick has allowed a passer rating of 88.7 when targeted, according to Pro Football Focus.
Jennings has spent all five years of his career as a member of the 49ers. He's caught 37 passes for 419 yards and four touchdowns this season, averaging 11.3 yards per reception.
Moehrig will be eligible to return to the Panthers' active roster on Monday after their Week 13 clash with the Los Angeles Rams.
