The Phoenix Mercury launched their new rebrand in preparation for the 2026 WNBA season.

The franchise also adopted new logos and updated its word mark:

"We wound up really being guided by this idea of wanting to modernize it instead of just come off the top rope out of left field with something different," team president Vince Kozar said to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss.

This is yet another way the Mercury are evolving since Mat Ishbia's arrival as the team governor.

The construction of a dedicated practice facility in 2024 was one of ownership's first big achievements. Last offseason, Phoenix moved on from its two greatest players ever when Diana Taurasi retired and Brittney Griner signed with the Atlanta Dream. Now, Phoenix is rolling out an entirely different look.

The Mercury's logos had largely remained unchanged since their inception in 1997. The only big alteration was adopting the current purple and orange color scheme in 2011.

The rebrand includes subtle nods to the franchise's past, including references to Phoenix's inaugural year and its status as one of the WNBA's eight original teams.

Now, the question is who will actually be wearing the new Mercury jerseys on the court.

Center Kalani Brown is the only player with a guaranteed contract for 2026. All of the key players from the run to the 2025 WNBA Finals, most notably Alyssa Thomas, Satou Sabally and Kahleah Copper, are hitting free agency.

The roster could look significantly different by opening night.
