Aaron Glenn Says When Jets 'Get That Mental Toughness, We'll be a Tough Team to Beat'

Despite falling to 2-9 and clinching their 10th straight losing season following Sunday's 23-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn remains optimistic that brighter days are ahead.

Glenn told reporters after Sunday's loss that he feels there's one key missing from the Jets for them to turn the corner.

"Once we get that mental toughness, we'll be a tough team to beat," Glenn said, per ESPN's Rich Cimini.

The Jets opened the game with a 7-0 lead before losing steam. This marked the sixth time this season and the 10th straight time that they lost a game after scoring first.

New York replaced quarterback Justin Fields with veteran Tyrod Taylor, and while he performed admirably with 222 yards, a touchdown and an interception, it wasn't enough to avoid the mistakes that have plagued the team for years. Untimely penalties and a key fumble by star running back Breece Hall in the red zone doomed the Jets' chances to earn their third win of the year.

Still, Glenn maintained his confidence that the team is showing positive signs as he tries to rebuild the franchise.

"We don't want to be 2-9," Glenn said, "but I do understand this: There are some things that we're doing -- underlying things that we're doing, some foundational things that we're doing -- that I am excited about. We just have to make sure now the record catches up with those things that we're building."

The Jets will be back in action next Sunday at home against the Atlanta Falcons (4-7).
