George Pickens Hyped by Dak Prescott, Jerry Jones Amid Cowboys Contract Rumors

Andrew PetersNov 23, 2025

George Pickens came into the 2025 season hoping to prove he's worth a long-term extension, and it's safe to say he's done that.

After another impressive game from Pickens on Sunday in a win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys quarterback and owner Jerry Jones hyped the receiver.

"He's not from here," Prescott told reporters. "He's not from this planet… We've got to make sure we can keep him here."

Jones called Pickens "an integral part of our story" and "the difference" in how the team has played over the last two weeks. He added that Pickens' play has exceeded "anything we could've hoped for."

Pickens had a solid start to his career, recording 2,841 yards in his first three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was traded to the Cowboys this offseason, and a change of scenery has helped him reach a new level.

He's recorded 1,054 receiving yards, the second-most in the league, and has eight touchdowns, which is tied for the second-most this season. He's been particularly dominant in recent weeks, recording 144 yards and a touchdown in last week's win over the Las Vegas Raiders before picking up 146 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Eagles.

Pickens is in the final year of his rookie deal and will be a free agent this offseason. After the year he's had, it's safe to say he's earned a lucrative second contract, whether with the Cowboys or another squad.

Dallas made CeeDee Lamb one of the league's highest-paid receivers in the league in 2024 when he was given a four-year, $136 million contract. The Cowboys also have the NFL's highest-paid quarterback in Prescott.

Dallas saved some money by trading star defensive end Micah Parsons rather than paying him, and the Cowboys could use some of that money saved to avoid losing Pickens in free agency.

If they're unwilling to spent, Pickens could suiting up for another squad next fall.
