Did Jalen Ramsey Get Punished for Punching Ja'Marr Chase? Latest on NFL Discipline

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey's altercation with Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was costly for both players.

According to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, Ramsey was fined $14,491 by the NFL for punching Chase after the wideout spit on him during Pittsburgh's 34-12 win over Cincinnati in Week 11.

Chase was previously suspended one game for spitting on Ramsey. The suspension will cost him his weekly paycheck of $448,333 and he'll also forfeit a $58,823 per-game active bonus (h/t ESPN).

The incident was sparked earlier in the AFC North matchup, as both Chase and Ramsey received offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties once they were tangled up after the whistle.

The two players clashed again shortly after, as Ramsey was ejected from the contest for throwing a punch at Chase.

"I don't give a f--k about football after that, respectfully," Ramsey explained after the victory, per ESPN's Ben Baby. "I'm always going to be all for trash talking, s--t talking, stuff like that. I actually enjoy that part of the game. I think people know that."

"As soon as he spit, it was like 'f--k that,'" he added.

While the seven-time Pro Bowler stood behind his response to the spit by Chase, he'll want to avoid a similar infraction in the future. According to the NFL's fines and appeals schedule, unsportsmanlike conduct results in a $14,491 fine following a first offense and $20,288 for a second offense.

Ramsey finished with four tackles and one pass defended in the win, while Chase caught just three of his 10 targets for 30 yards.

The victory was an important one for the Steelers, as it allowed them to remain atop the AFC North standings with a 6-4 record.
