When Will Chris Godwin Return? Latest Injury Update on When WR Will Debut for Bucs

Adam WellsNov 22, 2025

Having lost three of their last four games, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could get a boost in Week 12 with the return of Chris Godwin.

Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Godwin is expected to play on Sunday night in a marquee matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Godwin has missed most of this season due to ongoing injury issues after suffering a dislocated ankle that ended his 2024 campaign in Week 7.

The Buccaneers removed Godwin from the physically unable to perform list in August to make him eligible to practice, but head coach Todd Bowles made clear there was no set timeline for him to play in games.

Godwin made his season debut in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He also played the following week against the Seattle Seahawks, but suffered a fibula injury in that game.

Bowles told reporters on Oct. 10 that Godwin's fibula was unrelated to his previous ankle injury, but that he wasn't sure exactly how it happened.

"I don't know if it was a hit or a twist," Bowles said. "I just saw him limp off."

Godwin returned to practice on a limited basis leading up to Tampa's matchup with the Buffalo Bills last week. He wound up sitting out in a game that the Bucs lost 44-32.

After being limited in the Bucs' first practice this week on Wednesday, Godwin went through his first full practice on Thursday. He was back to being a limited participant on Friday and is officially listed as questionable to play.

The Buccaneers can use a boost right now after losing three of their last four games. They are only one game ahead of the Carolina Panthers in the loss column for first place in the NFC South.

Tampa Bay will play the Rams at SoFi Stadium on Sunday Night Football.
