One of the Most Prestigious Runs

3 of 3
Rock 'n' Roll Philadelphia - Half Marathon

The Philadelphia Marathon is among the most prestigious events on the race calendar, with a record 37,000 runners expected to take to the streets of the City of Brotherly Love, some to test themselves physically, some to cross another item off of their bucket lists, and others competing to win the whole thing.

The event is in its 32nd year in its current format, but has existed, in some form or fashion, since 1954.

17,000 of the expected record total will compete in Sunday's full marathon, while 15,000 compete in Saturday's half-marathon and 5,000 take part in the 8K competition.

The event also hosts a kid's run on Sunday, with the hopes of keeping youth active and healthy, while also introducing them to marathon running at an early age.

William Loevner, 27, from Pittsburgh, won the 2024 marathon, finishing in 02:16:13. He was the fastest male in the race. Katie Florio, 31, from Philadelphia, was the fastest woman to complete the race, crossing the finish line at 02:32:43.
