What Is Daniel Jones' Injury Status? Latest on Colts QB Ahead of Chiefs Game

Andrew PetersNov 20, 2025

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones is dealing with an injury ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Colts listed Jones as a limited participant on Thursday's injury report because of a calf injury.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted that Jones was not on the injury report on Wednesday and said it "sounds like the Colts are being cautious." ESPN's Stephen Holder added that he's "not sensing any reason for alarm" regarding Jones' injury.

Jones has stayed healthy all year amid what has been a career season from the former No. 6 overall pick. Jones, who spent the first six years of his career with the New York Giants, has thrown for the third-most yards (2,659) in the NFL this season, adding 15 passing touchdowns and five scores on the ground.

Behind Jones' breakout year, the Colts have looked like one of the best teams in the league at 8-2. Indianapolis boasts some of the best offensive numbers in the NFL, leading the league in yards per game (396.9) and the most points per game (32.1).

If Jones ends up being unable to play against the Chiefs this week, the Colts will presumably turn to rookie quarterback Riley Leonard under center. Leonard, a sixth-round pick out of Notre Dame, has seen limited action this year, appearing briefly in just one game last month.

Anthony Richardson, who battled Jones for the starting quarterback job this offseason, is currently on the injured reserve list after suffering an eye injury in October.
