Cristiano Ronaldo Transfer News: Latest Rumours, Speculation on Real Madrid Star

Timothy RappJul 23, 2015

The future of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is under the spotlight after reports surfaced on July 23 of a fallout between the striker and head coach Rafa Benitez.

The Real boss has since moved to calm the situation, but Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a move for the forward.

Louis van Gaal, meanwhile, has dismissed rumours of Ronaldo's possible return to Manchester United.

Van Gaal: United Won't Pay Ronaldo Asking Price

Monday, July 27

"That (Ronaldo's return) is not possible because you have the club, Ronaldo and then you have Manchester United and how much United want to spend," said Van Gaal, per Ian Ladyman of the Daily Mail.

Van Gaal's comments contradict claims United were working on an £80 million deal to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, as reported by Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News on July 23.

PSG Offer Rejected by Real Madrid

Sunday, July 26

"Real Madrid turned down a sensational £85m Paris Saint-Germain bid for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the lead story in Spanish newspaper AS. ... The paper quotes various Arab media outlets for their lead story," relayed Adam Shergold of the Daily Mail, who provided further context:

"

PSG, who have wealthy Qatari owners, are among the very few superpower clubs who could afford to buy Ronaldo in the unlikely event Real accept an offer.

Indeed, £85m seems remarkably cheap for the world's best footballer, especially as his last transfer fee was £80m when he moved from Manchester United to the Bernabeu in 2009.

"

Ronaldo's future became uncertain when he reportedly displayed annoyance with Benitez's training tactics, per Jack de Menezes of the Independent, although the manager brushed that talk aside, per Sky Sports on July 23.

The current rumours will likely serve as a reminder to Ronaldo's employers he isn't married to Madrid and could always depart to a rival club if he doesn't like how things are being run.

However, Real don't make a habit of losing their top star and most marketable figure, so any deal with United or PSG would be a huge shock.
