Will George Pickens Sign New Cowboys Contract? HC 'Very In Favor' of Extension
The Dallas Cowboys surely knew George Pickens' future with the team would be a topic of discussion when they traded for the wide receiver without an extension ahead of the 2025 campaign, but he has shown enough to head coach Brian Schottenheimer to warrant an endorsement.
"I'm very in favor of George having a long-term future here with us in Dallas," he told reporters Tuesday.
It seems like Pickens could be the next Cowboys player in line for a high-profile contract negotiation after Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Dallas was able to come to terms with long-term deals with Prescott and Lamb, but it eventually traded Parsons to the Green Bay Packers after a failed negotiation that created no shortage of headlines this past offseason.
And making matters a bit trickier is the reality that Pickens' agent is David Mulugheta, who just so happens to be Parsons' agent as well.
While the Cowboys could apply the franchise tag to the wide receiver, that would run the risk of some type of holdout and more drama ahead of the 2026 campaign. Perhaps they will want to avoid that situation and give him a long-term deal.
It would mean a massive financial commitment to the aerial attack given the contracts for Prescott and Lamb, but Pickens has also thrived during his first season with the NFC East team.
He tallied nine catches for 144 yards and a touchdown in Monday's win over the Las Vegas Raiders and has 58 catches for 908 yards and seven touchdowns on the season. That is already a career-high in touchdown catches, and he is on pace to surpass his career-high of 1,140 receiving yards from 2023 when he was with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Georgia product is just 24 years old and clearly fits in well with the Dallas offense.
It would be anything but surprising if he continues to put up impressive numbers during the coming years given his age and overall productivity, but it might take a long-term deal from the front office to ensure that happens with the Cowboys.
