Rangers, Panthers Reveal Uniforms for 2026 NHL Winter Classic in New Photos

The Florida Panthers and New York Rangers are celebrating a historic 2026 NHL Winter Classic with brand new uniforms.

Both teams unveiled their new looks Wednesday ahead of the upcoming Winter Classic, which will mark the farthest south the NHL has ever traveled for an outdoor game when it takes place on Jan. 2 at the Miami Marlins' loanDepot Park.

The Panthers uniform features a nod to the "leaping tiger" logo the team wore from their inaugural 1993-94 season until the 2026-17 campaign.

The design of the jersey was "inspired in part by South Florida's military heritage," according to a press release.

The jerseys also feature the silhouette of a rat on a hem loop in a nod to the rubber rats thrown on the ice by Panthers fans since their first run to the Stanley Cup Final in 1996.

The Rangers jersey features the diagonal words "New York" across the torso in place of the team's usual nickname motif.

The uniform also references the team's centennial anniversary jerseys, which feature a hemline loop with the number "100" in a red apple, with an apple stitched with "NYR" on the shoulder.

The two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Panthers will hope to be able to ice a healthier team in time for the outdoor matchup. Panthers general manager Bill Zito recently said Matthew Tkachuk, who hasn't yet played this season amid his recovery from offseason surgery, could return as soon as December.

The Rangers will hope to see stars like J.T. Miller, Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad step up in Miami after a relatively slow start to the season for new head coach Mike Sullivan's offense.

The matchup will marks the first of two outdoor games taking place this season in Florida. The NHL will return to the state on Feb. 1, when the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins face off at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Raymond James Stadium.
