Making the Case For Roman Reigns to Become Undisputed WWE Champion Once Again

Donald WoodNov 21, 2025

Signing Cody Rhodes from All Elite Wrestling and slapping the Undisputed WWE Championship on him was a monumental moment for WWE, but it is now seeing what happens when you overexpose him.

Now more than ever, it's time for Roman Reigns to win back WWE's top championship and again take the mantle as the face of the company.

Despite his part-time schedule, Reigns is still the top draw in WWE, as his previous run at the top of the card brought an increase in television ratings, record-setting premium live event numbers, and consistent mainstream media attention.

One of the reasons The OTC is still considered a top draw is the historic run he had previously with the championship. With WWE's affinity for landmark runs and records, Triple H and company can book him for a second mega-reign that solidifies his legacy, or even push him closer to all-time records through a series of main event victories.

Luckily for WWE, Reigns' sporadic appearances have left openings for future character development and evolution. Fans have already seen several versions of The Tribal Chief, but there are still angles left to explore, including becoming a more ruthless version of himself or becoming a humble hero champion searching for vengeance as he rebuilds his empire.

From an in-ring perspective, there are still an ample number of dream matches left for Reigns that could be booked as headline feuds for marquee events.

Look no further than possible challengers for the undisputed title, such as Gunther, Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, The Rock, and even a rematch against Rhodes.

From a storyline perspective, Reigns could always revisit the Bloodline story, which is widely regarded as one of WWE's greatest long-term storylines. WWE Creative can build new chapters with The Usos, Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and other former members, as well as refurnish the stable with new members and angles. Reigns holding the title would give the story fresh momentum.

In addition to elevating the people around him, Reigns would also cement whoever beat him for the championship as a bona fide main event star. By winning the title and restoring credibility to the belt, he would set the stage for a rising talent to eventually beat him, creating a new megastar in the process. Names like LA Knight, Bron Breakker, and Carmelo Hayes would be ideal candidates to receive a WrestleMania "passing the torch" moment.

While Reigns is undoubtedly enjoying his part-time schedule, the WWE needs him now more than ever. With the product growing stale and a severe lack of top-tier talent, the company needs the return of The Tribal Chief as soon as possible.

The Road to WrestleMania 42 needs Reigns as the undisputed champion to be successful.
