Police Say Kris Boyd in Critical Condition After Shooting, Jets Release Statement

New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was shot Sunday morning in Manhattan.

The New York Police Department said the shooting occurred at around 2 a.m. ET, and Boyd is in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital.

The Jets provided a statement on the matter: "We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time."

Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson II asked fans for their support for his teammate on social media:

Boyd signed with the Jets in March. He has appeared in 81 games across spells with the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.

The 29-year-old has yet to debut for New York. The team placed him on injured reserve in August due to a shoulder injury.
