Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
There are any number of reasons to feel like running the Dolphins would be a great job. Miami would seem to be a very easy way to recruit talent, whether it's free agents or players who seek a trade from an opposing team.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross had a very patient approach with Grier, who spent 10 seasons as general manager.
Any incoming GM is going to need time to fix some of the mistakes from Grier's tenure that have left the Dolphins in their current position. They only have $5.1 million in projected cap space in 2026 before making a final decision about Tua Tagovailoa's future.
Miami would absorb a $99.2 million dead cap charge if Tagovailoa is released. The money could be spread out over two years if the team uses the post-June 1 designation, with $67.4 million going against the 2026 cap and $31.8 million in 2027.
The Dolphins are in position to add a of talent in the 2026 draft. They are currently in the No. 7 spot in the first round and have five total picks in the first three rounds. B/R's NFL scouting department had them taking Ohio State safety Caleb Downs in the most recent mock draft.
Per The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue, some of the top general manager candidates heading into the offseason that could be on Miami's radar include Philadelphia Eagles assistant GM Alec Halaby, Indianapolis Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds and San Francisco 49ers director of scouting and football operations Josh Williams.
Miami has won two of its last three games to improve to 3-7 overall. The team is closing in on its second consecutive losing season after finishing over .500 in four straight years from 2020 to '23.
