Hidalgo's unreal performance had college basketball fans in awe.
Hidalgo had a tremendous first two seasons at Notre Dame, earning a pair of First-team All-American bids among countless other honors. This year, it appears she may have hit a new gear.
Through the first three games of the season, Hidalgo is putting up 34.3 points per game, the best mark in the nation. Obviously, she won't be able to put together 40-point outings night in and night out, but she's clearly one of the best scorers in college basketball this year.
Notre Dame was a powerhouse in women's basketball for years, reaching the national championship game six times between 2011 and 2019. The Fighting Irish won it all in 2018.
But in recent years, they've struggled to reach those heights, failing to advance past the Sweet 16 in each of the last four seasons. Notre Dame is hoping to get back to the top of the college basketball world this year, and Hidalgo could be the star to get it there.
