What is Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall's Injury Status for 49ers vs. Cardinals?

Both quarterback Brock Purdy and wideout Ricky Pearsall practiced for the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday and each have a chance to play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

That isn't guaranteed, but Shanahan said that Purdy would return to starting duties if he takes a positive step forward in his injury recovery:

Both were considered limited participants at Wednesday's practice. Reports coming out of that practice were fairly positive, however.

Purdy, 25, has played just two games this season while dealing with a toe injury. He threw for 586 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions in those starts, taking two sacks. The Niners were 1-1 in those contests.

Pearsall, 25, hasn't played since Sept. 28 due to a knee injury. In four games he's caught 20 passes for 327 yards on 29 targets.

The 49ers have been decimated by injuries all season, with players like George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, Nick Bosa, Fred Warner and Mykel Williams, among others, missing time thus far.

Despite that, the team has gone 6-4 and very much remains in the hunt for a postseason berth. The return of both Purdy and Pearsall would help in that regard.

San Francisco has a very manageable stretch upcoming, with games against the Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns before a Week 14 bye. The Niners then get the Tennessee Titans out of the bye, but the schedule gets much more difficult after that, as they'll finish the season against the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks.

So if San Francisco wants to secure a playoff berth, handling business in the next four games will go a long way toward reaching that goal.
