Jordan Chiles Advances to Dancing with the Stars Semi-Finals, Thrills Fans in Week 9
Jordan Chiles is moving on to Week 10 of Dancing With the Stars after another impressive performance on Tuesday.
Chiles, a gold medalist for the United States gymnastics team, danced the Cha Cha with her partner, Ezra Sosa, earning a score of 37 out of 40. Their performance for the 20th Birthday Party of DWTS was inspired by Wayne Brady's Cha Cha from Season 31.
At the end of the night, this year's stars teamed up with stars of years past for a Relay Dance with the chance to have two points added to their score. Chiles partnered up with former speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno to dance the quick step.
Chiles and Ohno won their relay to earn the additional points, bringing her score to a 39, which was much needed on a night where three different pairings earned perfect scores. The fan vote secured her spot in next week's show.
Fans were once again thrilled by Chiles' performance.
Chiles has been consistently near the top of the leaderboards all season long, but she's yet to have picked up a perfect score. After all of the perfect scores on Tuesday, the judges have made it clear they're willing to award the high scores they were a bit more conservative with earlier in the season.
That being said, the competition is getting stiff, and Chiles and Sosa will have to bring their best next week to stay in the mix.
