Julia StumbaughNov 11, 2025

World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz is one step closer to his first ATP Finals win after a comeback group stage win on Tuesday in Turin.

No. 6 Taylor Fritz beat Alcaraz in a first-set tiebreak, then forced him two consecutive break points at 2-2 in the second set.

Alcaraz stormed back to claim a 6-7(2), 7-5, 6-3 win and remain undefeated in the Jimmy Connors group.

Later on Tuesday, No. 9 Lorenzo Musetti faced off against No. 7 Alex de Minaur.

The duo split the first two sets before Musetti came out on top of a tightly-contested third to seal a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 win.

Here's a look at the group standings after Tuesday's games. Full results can be found on the event's website.

Jimmy Connors Group

  1. Carlos Alcaraz (2-0)
  2. Taylor Fritz (1-1)
  3. Lorenzo Musetti (1-1)
  4. Alex de Minaur (0-2)

Bjorn Borg Group

  1. Jannik Sinner (1-0)
  2. Alexander Zverev (1-0)
  3. Ben Shelton (0-1)
  4. Félix Auger-Aliassime (0-1)

There are plenty of ATP rankings points on the line this week in Italy. Competitors win 200 ATP ranking points for each group stage match win, plus 400 for a semifinal win and 500 for a final win.

Event results could determine whether Alcaraz or Sinner ends the season on top of the ATP rankings.

The season-ending tournament for the ATP's top eight players is missing Novak Djokovic, who pulled out of the tournament due to what he described as an "ongoing" shoulder injury and allowed Musetti to take his place.

Group play wraps up Wednesday in Turin with an 8 a.m. ET matchup between No. 5 Ben Shelton and No. 8 Felix Auger-Aliassime, followed by a 2:30 p.m. match between No. 2 Jannik Sinner and No. 3 Alexander Zverev.
