Two fans attending the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, died after suffering cardiac arrest.

"The Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) and the ATP express their deepest condolences following the tragic passing of two spectators yesterday during the ATP Finals in Turin," the organizations said in a statement (via Reuters' Trevor Stynes).

"On-site medical and emergency personnel responded immediately, providing all possible assistance. Despite prompt intervention and subsequent transfer to hospital, unfortunately, both sadly passed away."

According to Stynes, the fans were aged 70 and 78. Tournament officials halted Taylor Fritz's eventual win over Lorenzo Musetti while addressing a medical emergency.

Fritz beat Musetti 6-3, 6-4 in one of two matches from the singles draw. Jannik Sinner defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-5, 6-1 in the other. On the doubles side, Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten along with Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski prevailed in the group-stage portion.

The top two from each group advance to the semifinals, which get underway Saturday, and the finals for both draws are scheduled for Sunday.
