'The Thiccer Kicker' Harrison Mevis Will Remain Rams' Kicker After Perfect Debut
"The Thiccer Kicker" is keeping his job after a perfect debut for the Los Angeles Rams.
Per Greg Beacham of the Associated Press, Harrison Mevis will keep his starting kicker role for the Rams over Joshua Karty, though Karty will remain on the team. The starting designation comes after Mevis went 6-of-6 on extra points in Sunday's win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Karty, who has been the Rams' kicker since last year, has made just 66.7 percent of his field goals this year and missed three extra points.
Mevis earned his "Thiccer Kicker" nickname while at Missouri because of his 5'11", 243-pound frame that goes against the typical build of a kicker. Mevis had an 84 percent accuracy rate in his four seasons with the Tigers.
He went undrafted in 2024 and has spent time with the Carolina Panthers, the Birmingham Stallions of the XFL and the New York Jets. Now, he's found a new home in Los Angeles and will look to continue his early success.
