It's the one player who can put together gargantuan, unfathomable stats in your wildest dreams of a football season. On Wednesday, EA Sports announced the top five-ranked quarterbacks in Madden 16.
Among the list are some usual suspects joined by one of the game's younger stars, while one of the game's greatest is exempt from this year's group.

| Rank | Player | Team | Overall Rating | Notable Stat Ratings |
| 1 | Aaron Rodgers | Green Bay Packers | 99 | 95 Throw Power, 98 Play Action, 88 Throw on the Run |
| 2 | Tom Brady | New England Patriots | 97 | 96 Throw Accuracy Short (TAS), 97 Throw Accuracy Mid (TAM), 94 Throw Power |
| 3 | Drew Brees | New Orleans Saints | 95 | 93 TAS, 91 TAM, 87 Throw Power, 93 Play Action |
| 4 | Ben Roethlisberger | Pittsburgh Steelers | 95 | 85 Strength, 95 Throw on the Run, 94 Throw Power, 92 Play Action |
| 5 | Andrew Luck | Indianapolis Colts | 94 | 95 Throw on the Run, 95 Throw Power, 92 Play Action |
Andrew Luck beat out one of the greatest quarterbacks this generation has ever seen, Denver Broncos leading man Peyton Manning. But Luck certainly deserves the nod over Manning after last season. The Colts quarterback threw for 34 more yards than Manning at 4,761 and threw 40 touchdowns, one more than the Denver man as well.
What might have put Luck over the top, though, was beating Manning and the Broncos in the 2015 playoffs to punch Indianapolis' ticket to the AFC Championship Game, which the Colts lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots.
Of the top five quarterbacks, it is the champion Tom Brady who threw for the fewest yards at 4,109, ranked 10th in the league last season.
The best overall rated quarterback, the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers, threw 4,381 yards, ranked seventh in the league while trailing Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger and Luck. But his 35 touchdowns to eight interceptions was the best ratio in the league while his 112.2 rating was second only to the Dallas Cowboys' Tony Romo.
It is his league MVP award that puts him at the top of Madden's list. With about a month until the game's release on Aug. 25, it's difficult to argue against this year's list of the game's best quarterbacks, who are sure to light up the actual gridiron along with your virtual one.
