Doric SamNov 9, 2025

Los Angeles Rams star quarterback Matthew Stafford made some history with his four-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Stafford is now the ninth quarterback in NFL history to throw 400 career touchdown passes, joining Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, Philip Rivers, Dan Marino and Ben Roethlisberger.

Stafford entered Sunday's game with 398 career touchdown passes. He got closer to the 400 mark when he threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to star receiver Puka Nacua in the first quarter.

This isn't the first time that Stafford etched his name in the history books this season. In Week 1, he became the 10th quarterback to join the 60,000-yard club when he threw for 245 yards in a win over the Houston Texans after entering the year needing 191 yards to reach the mark. He later passed Marino for ninth on the all-time passing yards list in a win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6.

Stafford began his career as the No. 1 pick in the 2009 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions. After years of team struggles despite his steady play, he was traded to the Rams ahead of the 2021 season, and he led Los Angeles to a Super Bowl title in his first year with the franchise.

Stafford's career has been a showcase of resilience and perseverance, and he's shown that he still has a lot left in the tank. The 37-year-old is undoubtedly motivated to chase a second championship ring before he walks away from the game, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he continues to rise up the record books as he pursues another title.
