Caleb Williams, Bears Amaze Fans with Comeback Win vs. Giants After Jaxson Dart Injury
It seemed like the Chicago Bears were going to blow a golden opportunity to bolster their playoff chances with a home game against one of the NFL's worst teams.
Until it didn't.
The Bears were facing a 10-point deficit with fewer than seven minutes remaining when Caleb Williams put the team on his back with a 91-yard touchdown drive and a 53-yard touchdown drive to defeat the New York Giants 24-20.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He finished the first drive with a touchdown pass to Rome Odunze and the second with what proved to be the game-winning touchdown run on his own to help the Bears improve to 6-3 with their sixth win in the last seven games.
As for the Giants, perhaps they would have won if Jaxson Dart wasn't ruled out with a concussion when they were nursing a lead. But they fell to 2-8 overall with a fourth straight loss.
Dart made some history before exiting with the injury by becoming the first quarterback in NFL history with a rushing touchdown in five straight games, but Russell Wilson's inability to do anything of note in relief proved critical.
So did Williams, who went 20-of-36 for 220 yards, one touchdown and one interception to go with 63 yards and a score on the ground while earning plenty of praise from social media:
With snowy and windy conditions, the first half was largely defined by missed opportunities.
The two teams combined for four turnovers on downs before intermission, with one coming when Jaquan Brisker broke up a fourth-down pass from Dart in the end zone and another coming when Chicago was inside New York territory.
New York took a 10-7 lead into the half behind a Dart touchdown run that came after two long completions to Darius Slayton. Chicago's lone score in the opening two quarters came when Kyle Monangai picked up where he left off during his dominant performance in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals with the game's opening touchdown.
The Giants built on their lead with another Dart rushing touchdown on their opening possession of the second half and then had an opportunity to bury the Bears on their next drive before the rookie fumbled inside the red zone to keep the home team within striking distance.
But Chicago was unable to take advantage of the turnover by stalling inside the Giants' 10-yard line and turning it over on downs on their next two possessions. The visitors mixed in a field goal from the Bears' 1-yard line to make it a two-score lead, which ended up being an incredibly questionable decision given how the game ended.
Yet that decision gave Williams the stage to play the role of hero, and he did exactly that with yet another memorable finish for a Bears team that just defeated the Bengals with a touchdown in the final seconds last week.
The 91-yard drive included important completions to Odunze and Colston Loveland, as well as a long scramble by Williams. And the winning touchdown drive included a key completion to Luther Burden III.
It was a season-saving performance in crunch time for Williams that put the Bears in position to continue competing for a playoff spot in the season's second half.
And that playoff push will continue next week with a showdown against the division-rival Minnesota Vikings.
