De'Von Achane Reportedly Generated 'Significant Interest' at 2025 NFL Trade Deadline

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane was reportedly the subject of multiple trade inquiries leading up to this past Tuesday's NFL trade deadline.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Achane drew "significant interest," and "generated as many phone calls as anyone."

However, the Dolphins reportedly set an asking price of a second-round draft pick and more for Achane, which no team was willing to meet since next season marks the final year of his rookie contract.

Miami parted ways with general manager Chris Grier following a Week 9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, which dropped the Dolphins to 2-7 on the season.

That paved the way for the Dolphins to potentially have a fire sale at the deadline, but they only ended up making one major move by sending impending free-agent pass-rusher Jaelan Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2026 third-round pick.

There were also rumors and speculation surrounding pass-rusher Bradley Chubb and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, but nothing came to fruition.

Like Achane, the Dolphins reportedly had a high asking price for Waddle, as they wanted a first-round pick and possibly more.

With wide receiver Tyreek Hill out for the season with a knee injury and tight end Darren Waller on injured reserve due to a pectoral injury, Achane and Waddle have become the clear focus of the offense.

Achane, 24, is in the midst of his third NFL season after going in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft.

The speedster set career highs in several categories last season, including rushing yards (907), total touchdowns (12), receptions (78) and receiving yards (592).

Achane is enjoying another highly productive season in 2025, rushing for 606 yards and three touchdowns, while catching 43 passes for 274 yards and four scores.

He is on pace for the first 1,000-yard rushing season of his career and potentially his first Pro Bowl selection as well.

While the Dolphins would perhaps need to win out in order to reach the playoffs this season, Achane figures to be a major key to their success next season and potentially beyond.

Achane is not scheduled to become a free agent until after the 2026 campaign, but by keeping him in the fold, it keeps alive the possibility of the two sides agreeing to a long-term extension.
