NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Texas Tech Edge Romello Height

Matt HolderNov 9, 2025

Romello Height combines salesmanship with quickness and high-level athleticism as a pass-rusher to be a productive and contribute on third downs in the NFL. However, the 6'3", 240-pound edge defender lacks the size and strength to be a complete or every-down player on the next level.

Height was a 4-star recruit in the 2020 class and originally went to Auburn out of high school. He didn't see the field much, playing in 10 games and collecting just 19 total tackles with three tackles for loss over two seasons before transferring to USC.

In 2022, the former Trojan suffered a shoulder injury that forced him to have season-ending surgery after just two games. He was a rotational player the following year and recorded 20 tackles, six TFLs and four sacks before transferring to Georgia Tech.

During his lone season with the Yellow Jackets, Height collected 34 tackles, 6.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks and an interception while starting in 12 games.

He switched schools one last time, heading to Texas Tech, where he's enjoyed a breakout campaign with 38 tackles, 11.5 TFLs, 10 sacks and two forced fumbles this season. That was enough to earn first-team All-Big 12 honors.

Where He Wins

2 of 5
Texas Tech Houston Football

- Height is very quick and a good overall athlete whose impressive change of direction skills allow him to glide from one edge to the other and beat offensive tackles across their faces.

- Explosive off the line of scrimmage to threaten offensive tackles with speed around the edge.

- Sets up his pass-rush moves well by stemming inside or outside to win in the opposite direction, or gets to square to give himself a two-way go.

- Also is effective using head and shoulder fakes to get offensive tackles to stop their feet.

- Active hands as a pass-rusher and has shown a handful of moves that he can win with, like a cross-chop, spin move or ghost rush.

- Uses good angles and has good bend to corner at the top of the rush and take efficient paths to the quarterback.

- Good pass-rush motor.

- Against the run, he stays tight to the line of scrimmage when unblocked and has the speed to make tackles from the backside of zone runs.

- Comfortable dropping into zone coverage occasionally as a standup outside linebacker.

Areas of Improvement

3 of 5
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 01 Texas Tech at Kansas State

- Height is undersized, lacking the size and strength to hold up against the run in the NFL.

- Could afford to add some more mass to be more effective when turning speed to power.

- Doesn't have the lower body strength to effectively set the edge.

- Ends up chest-to-chest frequently when taking on blocks, struggling to get extension and escape from offensive linemen.

- Timing with his hands as a pass-rusher can be late, making it harder for him to win against offensive tackles who don't fall for his tricks and can stay in front of him.

- Older prospect who will be a 25-year-old rookie and took several years to become a productive player in college.
