Bears' Rome Odunze Downplays Father's Controversial Social Media Posts, Trade Rumors
Rome Odunze's father has made it clear on social media that he isn't happy about his son's role with the Chicago Bears, but the second-year receiver downplayed the posts and said he's happy with his current team.
"I don't make a big deal out of it," Odunze said, per ESPN's Courtney Cronin. "Obviously he has his opinions and I have mine. And he feels like he needs to voice those things on social media. That's his prerogative. But he speaks for himself. I speak for myself."
Odunze's father has been outspoken on social media recently, with one of his most controversial posts being about the Bears trading Odunze "to a team that will actually throw to him." He has also reposted a handful of posts about his son needing more targets.

But Odunze told fans not to read into his father's posts too much. He's not interested in playing somewhere else.
"Oh man. I'm happy," Odunze said. "I'm just trying to do my job within this organization as a leader as a person as an individual and then as a football player. So trying to excel at a Hall of Fame level in those aspects. That's all I'm focused on."
Odunze leads the Bears in targers (59), receiving yards (473) and touchdowns (5) and is tied for the most receptions (31). He plays a big role within Chicago's offense, but his targets don't compare to the top receiver in the league, as he ranks 25th in the NFL in targets.
Once the Bears' offense finds its groove, Odunze's numbers are bound to get better. For now, he'll continue doing his job and helping the team get wins.
