Matt LaFleur Says Packers 'Can't Allow' Eagles to Get Into 'Tush Push' Situations

Paul KasabianNov 6, 2025

The Green Bay Packers will host the Philadelphia Eagles in a pivotal Monday Night Football matchup this week. Like any Philadelphia opponent, the Packers must be wary of the Eagles' infamous Tush Push.

When asked about it on Thursday during a press conference with reporters, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said the team must do its best to avoid short-yardage situations that allow Philadelphia to utilize the play.

"You can't allow them in those short-yardage situations because you know exactly what they're going to do," LaFleur said, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "And they've been pretty successful at it obviously."

Green Bay notably led a charge last offseason to ban the Eagles' infamous Tush Push, but the proposal was just two votes shy of the 24 needed from league owners to pass.

LaFleur wasn't keen on talking about the Tush Push on Thursday.

"I'm not going to get into it," LaFleur said. "It is what it is. The NFL made a decision, and we have to find a way to try to stop the play, and it's a tough play to stop."

Per ESPN Research cited by Demovsky, the Tush Push has successfully led to a first down or touchdown on 16-of-21 attempts this season (76.5 percent). The Tush Push has featured more success over the previous three seasons in 2022 (92.6 percent), 2023 (83.3 percent) and 2024 (82.1 percent).

It's a very tough play to stop and perhaps even a harder one to officiate. This year has featured a host of uncalled false starts.

And then on Sunday, New York Giants edge-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux's apparent recovered fumble off Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts on a Tush Push was denied after it was deemed forward progress was stopped.

That begs the question of whether the Tush Push could finally get enough votes to be banned. For now, though, it's a legal play and one the Packers must be wary of as they welcome the Eagles to Lambeau Field on Monday.
