Sauce Gardner Gifts Young Jets Fans Colts Jerseys After Viral Video of Trade Reaction
The Indianapolis Colts added cornerback Sauce Gardner via trade from the New York Jets on Tuesday, and two young Jets fans were quite distraught upon hearing the news.
The younger fan was upset after having received a Gardner Jets jersey, but the two-time All-Pro is now sending them signed Colts jerseys.
Gardner initially responded to the video on Tuesday evening.
Now he's sending them signed jerseys. Overall, it's a great deal for the two of them to get new signed jerseys, especially for a first-place team that's a legitimate contender for the Super Bowl.
As for the trade, it was a stunning move to say the least, especially considering that the Jets signed Gardner to a four-year, $120.4 million contract extension last July. The Jets received a 2026 first-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell in return.
New York also traded defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys for a first-round pick, a second-rounder and defensive tackle Mazi Smith, cementing the team's fire sale amid a 1-7 season.
Ultimately, Gardner and the Jets have parted ways. Gardner is now in greener pastures on a contending Indianapolis team, while the Jets have accumulated a host of draft capital in hopes for a brighter future.
