NFL Regular Season Win Totals: Five Teams Leading 2015 Prop Odds

OddsShark.comJul 21, 2015

Only five of the 32 teams in the NFL have over/under win totals posted at 10 or higher, at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark, with roughly two months left before the 2015 regular season gets underway.

And four of those teams were the conference finalists from a year ago, meaning expectations remain high for them, as they attempt to get to Super Bowl 50.

While the defending Super Bowl champions New England Patriots await word on quarterback Tom Brady’s four-game suspension following his appeal, their win total is still listed at 10.5, with the over favored slightly at -125 (bet $125 to win $100).

If Brady misses the first four games of the season for the Patriots, either second-year player Jimmy Garoppolo or veteran Matt Flynn would be under center as his replacement for a tough early stretch that kicks off at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers and also includes road games against the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys.

The Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts all have the highest win totals with 11 apiece at the sportsbooks, and each of them at least hit that number last season.

Both the Seahawks and Packers eclipsed it with 12 wins during the 2014 regular season before meeting in the NFC Championship Game back in January. Seattle emerged victorious despite trailing 16-0 in the first half, rallying back to beat Green Bay 28-22 in overtime before eventually losing to New England 28-24 in Super Bowl 49.

The Colts were the primary victims of the Deflategate scandal in the AFC Championship Game that led to Brady’s suspension, although their performance on the field left a lot to be desired, as they were blown out 45-7 by the Patriots.

However, Indianapolis should field its strongest team since franchise quarterback Andrew Luck was drafted, adding wide receiver Andre Johnson and running back Frank Gore to the offensive mix.

The Denver Broncos are the fifth team with a double-digit win total of 10 for 2015 after tying the Seahawks, Packers, Patriots and Cowboys for the league’s best record last year at 12-4. The Broncos are coming off a home loss to the Colts in the Divisional Round of the AFC playoffs and figure to make one more run at the Super Bowl for future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning in what could be his final season.

In addition, the Cowboys just miss the mark with a win total of 9.5 at the sportsbooks for 2015 after losing NFL rushing champion DeMarco Murray to the rival Philadelphia Eagles—also at 9.5—as a free agent in the offseason.
