2015 Sports Uni Designs We Can't Wait to See

Nick DimengoJul 22, 2015

Although it really shouldn't matter how flashy or clean a team's uniform looks, there's no denying the fact that style has begun to matter a heck of a lot in the sports world.

Thanks to jersey sales for current stars competing with the throwbacks from former players, uniform designers know they have a tough task to make a good impression on a team, combining traditional looks with progressive ones.

And with so many teams unveiling new uniforms for 2015 in different sports, I figured I would give you the ones I'm most stoked to see.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons Football

1 of 11

Traditionally speaking, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons haven't exactly had a powerhouse football program, so you might be wondering why I'm so excited to see the team take the field in 2015.

Simple answerโ€”because their new uniform combinations are legit, with 27 new uni combos for the team to choose from for the upcoming season.

Will they go black helmet with different colored tops, pants and socks? Or rock the gold dome with white jersey and gold pants? Who knows, but it'll be cool to see what they choose out of these swagged-out styles.

Los Angeles Clippers

2 of 11

For all of the hate that the new Los Angeles Clippers uniforms have received since the new logo and threads were announced back in June, one can't help but at least be excited to see what a new era of Clips basketball truly looks like, right?

Sure, the logo looks a little bit ridiculousโ€”and really strange on the road jersey sitting side-by-side with the player numbersโ€”but the home kit is nice.

Entering the second season with Steve Ballmer as ownerโ€”who took over for Donald Sterling after his racist remarksโ€”this is just the next step in truly proving that he is making the team his very own. Besides, with Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and now DeAndre Jordan back, the squad will still be entertaining, so who cares what they're wearing on their backs.

Indiana Pacers

3 of 11

Now this is pretty coolโ€”and really good timing considering the fact that the news broke on the exact same day that I am writing this article.

As most sports fans are familiar with, the movie Hoosiers happens to be a cult classic, giving the story of the Hickory High basketball team in a small town in Indiana.

To honor the movieโ€”which was released in 1985 and is celebrating its 30th anniversary this yearโ€”the Indiana Pacers will be donning an alternate uniform to honor that fictional team, which is a cool thing to see.

Michigan State Spartans Football

4 of 11

At first glance, you might not think that the Michigan State Spartans uniforms are all that greatโ€”especially when considering that they're basically the same as in past years.

The one that really grabs my attention, though? That would be the alternate home jersey, which follows a similar style pattern as the original but has just enough new elements that make it bolder.

Losing the standard "Michigan State" written across the chest, the alternate green jersey holds up nicely in both colors and design, with the new helmet on fire, as it uses darker colors across the entire thing.

It's a nice change of pace from the old style the team has seemingly worn forever.

Cleveland Browns

5 of 11

As a Cleveland Browns fan, I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed with the design of all three of the new uniform combinations the team unveiled this offseasonโ€”except for one thingโ€”which I'll get to in a second.

Mixing in a darker shade of orange and changing up the striping on the jersey sleeves was a bold move, but planting the word "Cleveland" across the chest is a nice touch and something that no other NFL team currently has.

Lastly, paying homage to the team's diehard fansโ€”The Dawg Poundโ€”the players have those words inside the back neck, reminding them each time they take the gridiron who they're playing for.

So, about that one thing that's pretty badโ€”that new logo. C'mon, guys, what were you thinking with that one? Oh well, I guess nothing can be perfect.

San Francisco 49ers

6 of 11

Established in 1946 and winners of five Super Bowls, the San Francisco 49ers have one of the richest traditions of any franchise in the NFL.

With all of that history, it's honorable to have stuck with the same, basic uniform design for as long as they didโ€”until 2015, of course.

That's because, for the first time in team history, the Niners will be donning an alternate jersey, ditching the classic red, gold and white look for an all-black combo that looks both intimidating and awesome.

Some 49ers purists may not like the new look, but for those who like this type of stuff, the new all-blacks are a nice upgrade.

Miami Hurricanes Football

7 of 11

After being picked to actually fly from Seattle to Miami to see the unveiling of the new Miami Hurricanes football uniforms this past weekend, I can tell you that these things are absolutely amazing.

Forget the dope, new look for a second and let's just talk about how big of a switch it was for the school to go from a certain brand with a Swoosh to Adidas, who had big shoes to fill in keeping up with the Hurricanes' storied tradition.

In so many ways, the three-striped brand did it perfectly, introducing various combinations that combine The U's traditional swagger with a new-age design to look toward the future.

With state-of-the-art technology and a look that's rad, these Canes will storm the field in style this season.

Colorado Buffaloes Football

8 of 11

While all of the college football uniforms on this list have something that makes them unique, the Colorado Buffaloes'ย new combinations have something just a little cooler that make them amazing.

In addition to the traditional black-on-gold and white-on-black uniforms, the all-white and all-gray are killer, giving them a clean look that few teams can match when lining up against the Buffs each Saturday.

Those all-grays might be my favorite uniform in college football in 2015.

Milwaukee Bucks

9 of 11

I can't necessarily put my finger on it, but there's just something about the new Milwaukee Bucks uniforms that does it for me.

I don't know if it's just the simplicity mixed with those specific colors or something else, but the Bucks win in my book for the time they spent on designing these new unis.

Hell, it wasn't too long ago that the team was wearing purple uniformsโ€”which were hideousโ€”or green ones with a deer on the jerseyโ€”atrociousโ€”so the new ones are a definite upgrade and speak to a sleek and stylish Bucks design.

TCU Horned Frogs Football

10 of 11

This year's TCU Horned Frogs football team is expected to contend for a national title, but the uniforms may have already walked away as champs after the unveiling at their spring game a few months ago.

Designed to look like a horned frogโ€”imagine thatโ€”Nike didn't mess around in pulling out all the clever stops for these uniforms, releasing a gray, white and purple version that the team will wear this upcoming season.

One of the best designs of any on this list, the TCU uniforms are about as out-of-the-box as one will findโ€”and they look awesome for that reason.

Atlanta Hawks

11 of 11

Coming off a historic season in which the team went 60-22โ€”which was tops in the Eastern Conferenceโ€”and reached the conference finals, the Atlanta Hawks have seen a lot of good things over the past year-plus.

Another one of those positives to add to the list? The new uniforms, which are, in my opinion, the coolest of any on this list.

Updating their logo to something a little more hip, the home, away and alternate jerseys incorporate all the new colors into them, instantly becoming one of the NBA's top uniforms.

Seriously, they look like the team with the most swagger.

I'm far from being a Hawks fan, but I might just need to scoop up a jersey for the hell of it, because these new things are awesome.
